Who we are
Welcome to the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers.
The Government of India, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology endorsed the operations of the National Internet Registry (NIR) to the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI). The NIR is entrusted with the task of coordinating IP address allocation with other internet resource management functions at a national level in the country.
NIXI was recognised by APNIC in March 2012 to become the NIR for the country. The NIR has been named the Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN).
IRINN is a division of NIXI that allocates and registers Internet Protocol addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) for its affiliates.
What we do
Allocate
IPv4 and IPv6 address space and Autonomous System Numbers, issued on the basis of demonstrated need.
Register
The authoritative Whois database of who holds which resources in India, plus reverse DNS and routing registration.
Support
Policy development with the Indian internet community, training through NIXI Academy, and local-language helpdesk support.
